Who should see a Dietitian?
Anyone looking to lose weight or make healthy lifestyle changes could benefit from seeing a Dietitian. As well as anyone with a condition that requires them to change their diet, but they are not sure where to start. These could include:
- Kidney Disease
- Heart Disease, high blood pressure or cholesterol
- Food allergies or sensitivities
- Irritable bowel disease (Chrohn’s, Colitis), Irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis/ diverticulitis
- Difficulty Losing Weight
What are the benefits of seeing a Dietitian?
Often times programs will give you a diet plan or general diet info, but this may not be realistic for you. A Registered Dietitian can help you make a plan for dietary changes that works for you, and fits your lifestyle and food preferences. The Dietitian is there for you to help you reach your goals, no matter what they are, big or small.
What will my appointment be like?
Appointments are typically 60 minutes in length for an initial appointment, and 30 minutes for a follow up. At the initial appointment the Dietitian will talk to you about your medical history, current diet, and food preferences, as well as answer any questions that you may have. From there you will work together to set small, achievable goals and develop a personalized diet plan. Follow up appointments will be determined together by you and the Dietitian. You can come as many times and as often as you would like, or think is necessary, to meet your goals. Patients often bring family members for support and to encouragement.
